Parrot Abuse is highly common in Australia.

Below are just few pictures of the thousands if not millions of birds suffering all over Australia. Australians own more birds than any other companion animal.

Parrot abuse and/or neglect can occur anywhere these birds are kept or displayed – pet shops and other retail stores, breeding facilities, bird retailers, private homes, hotels,

restaurants, rescue facilities, veterinary offices, schools, nursing homes, zoos, exhibits, performance venues, and in laboratories.

Australia needs laws to protect the welfare and sanity of Companion Birds and to prosecute those in breach of bird welfare. Breeders should be banned- there are so many parrots who need to be adopted by caring and empathetic people of parrots.

Please contact parrotproductions@live.com.au or 0413 530 419 (Australia) if you see abuse of parrots or parrots living miserably and NOT BEING ABLE TO FLY!!!

Happy New 2015 to all and Companion Birds

Hello animal friends and companion bird lovers!!

Let’s hope 2015 brings compassion to companion birds in Australia.
No more birds in boxes and birds in cages!! BIRDS WERE BORN TO FLY!!

As you read this, Companion Birds are tragically suffering in Australia at the hands of profit greedy bird breeders, bird sellers, bird groups and associations.
These people must all be stopped and brought to justice- their crimes against companion birds are unimaginable and kept quiet so the public does not know the truth of bird abuse.
The companion bird industry parallels the puppy farm industry. There are millions of dollars being earned by backyard bird breeders and bird business breeders.
Birds are forced to breed and live an un-natural life.
There are more bird owned by Australians than any other companion animal.

More importantly, let us wish that the bird caring public encourage the government authorities to introduce for the first time bird laws that protect the birds. Till now, bird standards have been allowed by the governments to be set by the Bird groups- those themselves abusing the birds!!!
NO MORE!!
Out with the ‘old, evil and greedy’ and in with the new compassion and empathy for companion birds.

Please keep a look out for abuse against Companion Birds- let me know what you see and together we can help birds fly again!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your compassion and support

‘Unbridled love ‘ June 28, 2014 Jane Wheatle

Rupert Isaacson was told his autistic son, Rowan, was “unreachable”. But a positive encounter with a horse kickstarted a journey that is now benefiting many others.

Rupert Isaacson and I do not get off to a good start. I am grumpy because I’ve spent ages looking for him in his hotel and getting reception to call his room, finally running him to earth in a dark alcove in the bar. He is wearing jodhpurs and butch leather chaps, which in a slick hotel in the centre of London looks a tad pretentious – even if he has been riding that morning. I suggest we find somewhere with a bit more light so we go to the upstairs dining room and start the interview, which sometimes sounds more like a lecture. “What you need to understand is this …”; “What your readers have to realise is …”

Father Bob Maguire leads strong turnout for candlelight vigil for death row dog Mylo , Melbourne Australia

MORE than 100 people, including well-known Melbourne priest Father Bob Maguire, gathered in Sunshine last night to attend a candlelight vigil for a dog which Brimbank Council has put on death row.

Children, adults and canine pets gathered outside the council’s meeting chambers bearing signs and balloons printed with the slogan ‘Free Mylo’.

Mylo was captured by a Brimbank Council officer in May 2012 when he escaped from his owner’s Sunshine West home.

He was deemed to be a restricted dog breed and would have been killed, but his family launched legal action in a bid to stop Mylo from being destroyed.

DEATH ROW ORDER OVERTURNED

Since then the Supreme Court has twice overruled a VCAT decision in favour of the council’s view that Myo should be killed.

Mylo’s fate now lies in the hands of the Victorian Governor in Council, who has been asked to grant Mylo an exemption from restricted breed provisions.

Mylo has been kept at the Lost Dogs Home in North Melbourne ever since his capture.

His owners — Jessica Gray and her 13-year-old daughter Brodie — have obtained DNA results which they said showed Mylo is an American Staffordshire terrier cross, not a pit bull.

Last night, Ms Gray told Leader her family has been allowed to visit Mylo for 30 minutes a week at the Lost Dogs Home since he was locked up two years ago.

She said Brodie had to stop visiting Mylo for a short period, because she would became upset when he tried to follow them out of the Lost Dogs Home.

“It really broke her heart,” Ms Gray said.

“I get that upset and angry that I just cry. It’s very, very hard, but I’ll do it for my daughter and for Mylo.”

Their pro-bono solicitor Alysha Tuziak from K&L Gates said she organised the vigil to raise awareness of Mylo’s plight.

Also during the vigil, Father Bob said a prayer for Mylo.

“This is a rescue campaign of an innocent animal,” he said.

“I reckon Mylo looks like a beautiful dog.”

Dog behavioural expert Jean-Claude Bertoni, who has assessed Mylo’s temperament for court cases, also spoke.

Mr Bertoni said Mylo was gentle enough to become a therapy dog in hospitals.

“Everything I saw in him said, ‘I’m placid, I’m gentle, I’m friendly’,” he said.

“If this amazing dog does not get released it’s a travesty because he is one of the most amazing animals you will ever meet.”

Glenroy residents Helen Rosa and Pamela Smith said they came to the vigil to show support for Mylo.

“I feel it’s a huge injustice when a dog who hasn’t bit anyone, or shown any aggression, is locked up for two years,” Ms Rosa said.

Young vigil attendee Elise, aged seven, made a sign for the event which said ‘Let Mylo go home — he is innocent’.

“I don’t want Mylo to die because he is a special dog,” she said.

Afterwards the Brimbank Council administrator’s chairman John Watson said he could not comment too much on the case, but he read out a statement which said: “Mylo was not registered, not micro chipped, not desexed and matched the State Government standard for a restricted breed dog (when he was seized in 2012).

“At all times Brimbank City Council has acted responsibly and in accordance with the law.

“Under the law Brimbank City Council cannot return or rehouse Mylo.”

Australia- DEPI fines an Albanvale man after keeping wedge-tailed eagle in cage Alesha Capone Brimbank Leader April 14, 2014 3:19PM

AN Albanvale man has been fined by the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to illegally keeping a wedge-tailed eagle in a cage.

The 42-year-old man has been ordered to pay a $400 fine to the Australasian Raptor Association.

He has also been ordered to pay the costs of the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) but no conviction has been recorded against him.

DEPI wildlife officer Sam Moore said the eagle was found in a ‘very small cage’ at the man’s home in July last year.

“This fine is a reminder to anyone who wants to keep protected wildlife that it can only be done with the appropriate licences required under the Wildlife Act,” Ms Moore said.

Anyone aware of a wildlife-related crime can contact the DEPI on 136 186.
